Old threads?
The entire site redesign is a step backwards. Moreover, they no longer update the site every day. The latest news story on taxes dates from October 18. What's going on?

Old threads?
I for one am happy to see the old threads go away... they were dated and contained no longer useful information...
Don't need to read about elections from 1999...
I also felt they contained information that would scare many potential newcomers to the neighborhood... about shootings and robberies that have long been solved or put to rest... and antiquated troubles that people had with various restaurants... Do we still need to read about the New Dragon?
But I will just say....... this new interface... is completely unappealing

There were indeed some very useful recommendations, and we regret that they are not currently accessible through the new design. We are working towards retrieving them, however, that may not be possible.
In the mean time, we strongly encourage to begin new threads on any topic of interest.

WOW! That was really, really, really shortsighted. I can't believe someone would even consider throwing away such a valuable resource. Unbelievable. |
I have to say, unfortunately I agree w/Mr. Speight. As someone who manages web site redesigns and content, I certainly appreciate the often thankless task involved and I DO think so much of the redesigned Voice looks and interacts so much better....but to sacrifice one of, if not soley, the most valuable component to the community of users?? Such an unfortunate choice. By losing the old threads we have lost an incredible resource, in addition to having to cope with a new mechanism that is clunky and extremely user-unfriendly at best. Again, I do understand that web site redesign is a difficult process, and in light of that it is also a perfectly acceptable part of the process to admit when something new isn't necessarily better and regroup. Kudos to you all for at least working to make this better...just please, please incorporate the user input you are now receiving to continue to improve the site. It would be such a shame to lose this community forum.

New Hill Talk
For whatever reason you people at the Capitol Hill Current took something which wasn't broke (Hill Talk) and improved it in such a way that it is hard to use and makes no sense. What was of value were the archives with a thread on a specific topics going back several years as well as the sections dealing with contractors, home improvement etc. You now say that you people designed a system and format which makes it impossible to retrieve the archives. Spend a little of your corporate money and fix what you broke and bring back the archives. What dolts!

New Hill Talk
I really hate the new hill talk. It used to be so much fun to easily read what people were sayig and the recommendations for workers, specialists, etc. were great.
