tear down Hine

Quote:

Hine should be torn down and replaced by homes that reflect the neighborhood, more space for additional outside vendors, and (if possible) a new market building set up in the same way as the temporary structure.

no no noooooooo...

we need real office space to attract real tax paying tenants... more workers coming to our commercial corridor to fill the restaurants already here...

tear down Hine

As part of the Mayor's housing initiative for the homeless, the Hine site would be a perfect location to construct permanent housing for the homeless. From what we have seen so far, Tommy Wells can be counted on to support Fenty's proposals after feigning ignorance about any knowledge of it.

Tear Down Hine...

What is Jarboe's way? Just curious.

ooh some "faux 19th century" row of townhouses that don't blend in... even while pretending they do...

What i'd like to see instead would be some brand spanking new 21 century development which DC is so lacking...

In my mind that block should be highly developed density wise... 10 or more stories... AAA office space... with not a square foot offered to DCPS...

Maybe, if we're lucky, we can convince WMATA to offer up Eastern Market Metro Plaza across the street... so we can have a Gallery Place like development...

looking back at the article... i'm comforted to note that Jarboe acknowledges the building is an eyesore...

I'm also not worried about developing the play/antiques/flea market grounds... 7th Street can always be closed between PA and NC Ave on flea market days...
