Soapstone Countertops

Quote:

I have been unable to find any local soapstone suppliers for this area. I did find some general contractors willing to go out and bring me the counters sight unseen. However, I really was hoping to go to a supplier and select from a wide range of slabs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A good fabricator for stone countertops is a company in Chantilly called Granite Source, Inc. I have a friend who works there named Anthony and he works with contractors, designers, and homeowners. His work line is 571-244-0121, he is well veresed in the world of countertops. They work with granite, marble, soapstone, and just about any sort of engineered stone as well./

Soapstone Countertops

Just wanted to let everyone know that I did find a local supplier/installer of soapstone countertops. Grantops in Frederick, Maryland has soapstone slabs.

Although I loved it, my husband hated the veins/wrinkles that is common to most types of soapstone. As a compromise, we wound up getting honed black granite from them. The price was reasonable and, so far, we are happy with the installation.

We recently had soapstone counters installed in our kitchen and also experienced a diificult time finding area suppliers and fabricators. Arc Stone has some slabs but does not do fabrication although they might be able to recommend someone. R. Bratti might have a very small sample of soapstone but they will do fabrication. I also know of someone that contacted Dominion Granite and Marble out of Ashburn, Va and they supplied her with information re: area stone yards that currently had soapstone slabs available and the various pricing. Since I wanted Green Mountain soapstone I ended up visiting a stone yard in N.J. near our relatives to pick out a slab and they shipped to a fabricator in Baltimore that will order GM upon request. Both Green Mountain and M Teixeira are major soapstone suppliers and will send samples upon request (you can go to their websites online).

-Good Luck in your quest!
