| Southeast Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission (ANC 6B) |
VOICE writes, "At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Southwest advisory neighborhood commission:
• appointed new commissioner Kristen Oldenburg, who ran unopposed for the recently vacated 6B04 seat.
• unanimously voted to table a request for increased police presence in Hill East. Commissioner Neil Glick proposed an emergency single-sales ban for area liquor stores to coincide with the increased homeless population on Reservation 13. But other commissioners rejected the idea, saying they would need to see data linking an increase in crime with more homeless individuals to approve the resolution."
|
• unanimously voted to urge the D.C. Department of Transportation coordinate planned streetscape work on 7th Street SE with market renovations.
• heard that the Eastern Market Community Advisory Committee will ask for D.C. Council oversight hearings on the Office of Property Management’s relationship with the advisory committee. The committee says the property office has repeatedly violated city laws that govern the market.
• heard an announcement that Eastern Market Ventures and the property office are considering opening Farmers Line vending under the market shed on weekdays.
• unanimously voted to support a new route for the March 29 Wirefly National Marathon, which has been reversed to end at RFK Stadium. Commissioner Ken Jarboe welcomed Northeast commissioner Nick Alberti’s suggestion to change the route. Due to the changes, East Capitol Street will be open to traffic for several hours longer on race day.
