| Northeast Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission (ANC 6A) |
VOICE writes, "At its Nov. 8 meeting, the commission:
• voted to request the city amend rules to give advisory neighborhood commissions prompter, easier access to government information, including documents that normally require Freedom of Information Act requests. The commission also requested that all information for advisory commissions be free.
• voted to give Maury Elementary's PTA $505 to buy graphic novels and periodicals for the school's recently remodeled library. "
|
• voted to ask the Historic Preservation Review Board to reconsider its support for a proposed addition and conversion at 1137 C St. NE, a project commissioners called too massive and out of character with the neighborhood.
• announced that the District’s attorney general approved contracts for H Street streetcars, and the city will put out a request for proposals on the project soon, according to commission chair Joseph Fengler.
• announced that the Office of Property Management is considering how to redevelop the old Maryland Avenue firehouse and Ninth Street police station, both properties commissioners characterized as long overdue for new uses.
• announced its upcoming hearing on a possible H Street bar cap. The hearing will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Sherwood Recreation Center.
• voted to defer a decision on the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Eastern Washington's request for support to get a more comprehensive waterfront traffic study. The coalition wants the District Department of Transportation to consider the impact of upcoming development and transportation initiatives in the study.
The commission’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Miner Elementary School, 601 15th St. NE.
