Southwest Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission (ANC 6D)
VOICE writes, " At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Southwest advisory neighborhood commission:
• voted to support the new Washington Nationals baseball stadium’s liquor license. Some commissioners said they were worried that if they protested the application, the license could be granted outside the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration, resulting in no city oversight.
• voted to support zoning changes for The Yards, an upcoming mixed-use development between M Street and the Anacostia River in Southeast.
• unanimously voted to ask the D.C. Council to convert an abandoned warehouse near Jefferson Middle School into an aquatic center."

Southeast Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission (ANC 6B)
VOICE writes, "At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Southwest advisory neighborhood commission:
• appointed new commissioner Kristen Oldenburg, who ran unopposed for the recently vacated 6B04 seat.
• unanimously voted to table a request for increased police presence in Hill East. Commissioner Neil Glick proposed an emergency single-sales ban for area liquor stores to coincide with the increased homeless population on Reservation 13. But other commissioners rejected the idea, saying they would need to see data linking an increase in crime with more homeless individuals to approve the resolution."

Northeast Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission (ANC 6A)
VOICE writes, "At its Dec. 13 meeting, the Northeast Capitol Hill advisory neighborhood commission: • heard a proposal from Pilgrim Baptist Church pastor Louis Jones on a proposed transitional-housing facility for ex-convicts. Some residents said they worried that putting such a program in the neighborhood — at 820 8th St. NE — would jeopardize their safety. A church member said ex-convicts already live in the neighborhood, but at this facility they would be supervised and working toward stability.
• approved spending up to $300 for voluntary-agreement stickers with the commission’s logo. The stickers are to be displayed on businesses whose liquor licenses include voluntary agreements."

The runners will enter Southwest from the South Capitol Street Bridge at around 8:30 a.m. and will leave the neighborhood before noon, organizers said, adding that the race has been rerouted because of problems with last year’s course."

For various reasons, including the death of the Subway Liquors owner, talks about a voluntary agreement with the stores had not produced results, he said."
